Hi there! My name is Elijah Greene, I have been doing hair professionally since 2011 and I love my career! Though my ultimate passion is styling hair I enjoy all aspects of what I do and can't wait to make you look and feel beautiful, whether its a new cut or an updo for your big occasion. I work well with others and strive for perfection in what I do - I won't stop until we are both fully satisfied.
I am a 22 year old stylist in the Richmond, Virginia area. Months before I was born my family moved from South Carolina with my father's new job; I grew up in Chesterfield. In 2009 I graduated high school with hopes to become a flight attendant, due to height complications I set out to find a new career choice. Having done my best friend's hair for prom that year I remembered my interest in styling and working with hair- a Google search and a few weeks later I was enrolled in cosmetology school. In September of 2010 I graduated beauty school.
That September, while preparing for my state board exam, I entered a Matrix sponsored contest called 'Spread The Love' and after three rounds I was picked as a finalist out of over 200 contestants nationwide. In December of 2010, 21 other finalists and I were flown to New York for the weekend courtesy of Matix to compete for the 6 winning spots. That Saturday, in between interviews, myself and the finalists trained with Matrix educator Chris Sarel at the Matrix Academy practicing color formulations and team work. That night I was announced as a runner up - the following year I also placed as a finalist.
Upon my return to Virginia my hopes of becoming a successful hair stylist were elevated and while doing hair from home I set plans to move to persue my dreams. Things took a turn and I was blindsided when at the end of March my good friends and fellow Spread The Love contestants, winners Ashley Hanson (Miss Teen Iowa, 2001) and Courtney Guess landed in Richmond. For their week in Virginia I attended classes with the 2 winners at J. Daniel Studios on Libbie, taught by Matrix educator Daniel Scates, worked with them at Beyond Bangs, a Mechanicsville based Salon and Salon Van De located in Henrico. At the end of the week it was announced that I had been hired to work at Salon Van De, should I want the job.
I started at Salon Van De the following week first assisting and training under Matrix master colorist and Schwarzkopf specialist Jerod Jeffers, then later becoming a full time stylist.
My services include cutting, coloring, perms or relaxers, and styling hair along with other beauty services such as manicures or pedicures, facials, and waxing or tweezing. I am also available for off-site weddings or styling.
